On Friday afternoon Misses I. McKenzie and F. and L. Hood com bined in giving a “blue" gift tea at the home of the former, “Sea~o*-./l, Ormond, for Miss N. Sheet, wrose marriage to Mr. Colin Fraser, V> hangara, will take place shortly.. The sitting-room was with auhmnn foliage and roses. Mrs. W. McKenzie welcomed her daughter's guests wearing a graceful frock of nigger brown crepe accented with touches of rust-coloured ve!,e-.. and Miss .McKenzie was smart ?n a frock of air force blue Angora. Miss F. Hood’s becoming tan suit was relieved wit!) touches of ~ and a tailored blue tarn skirt and rose pink twin set were worn by Miss L. Hood.

Miss Skeet wore a simply cut t'roca in Baghdad blue. Among the quests were: urs. A. H. DeCosta. Misses M Fraser, A. Slight, D. Hansen, M. Cameron, M. Scott, and J. Wauchop.

Five O’clock Party Prior to their marriage, Miss Ruth Shanks and Mr. R. Donald, Tolaga Bay, were the chiei guests at a cheery sherry party given by Mrs .1. Birchnail and Mrs. Russell Traflord at the home of the former in Harris street on Saturday. The decorations were shaded Iceland poppies and marigolds/ During an interval gift parcels were opened by the bride-to-be, showing an assortment of articles for her pantry shelves.

Mrs. Birchnall was smart in a frock of smoke grey wool georgette accented at the neckline with a mauve ornament.

A frock of forest green wool georgette with gold embroideries was the choice of Mrs. Trafford. Miss Shanks wore a tailored frock ol' black wool georgette. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. J. The activities of the Tamarau Women’s Institute in May embraced a meeting of the gardening circle, held in St. Paul’s Hall, Kaiti, at which two visitors were welcomed.

The competition, three chrysanthemum blooms, was won by Mrs. Cochrane. Mrs. Clare and Mrs. Campbell being placed second and third, respectively. Mrs. Tasker emerged the winner of a number competition. Mrs. Forman presided over a meeting of the drama circle, which took place at the home of Mrs. Rhodes. A warm welcome was' extended to two visitors by the convener. Arrangements were discussed in regard to a social, and later an impromptu debate was enjoyed. The subject chosen, ’‘Should we have a black-out,” was keenly contested, the icpresentatives of the affirmative emerging the ’Vinners. It was stated that the social recently organised by ihe circle IvJ met with success. The programme included games and dancing, interspersed with items contributed by Mrs. A. C. Coleman and Misses Marion Campbell, Marjory Croskery, Beth Penrose and Master Taylor. Mrs. Randle acted as accompanist. A cleverly-produced play also proved popular, the parts being taken by Mesdarnes Marsh and Cam-Jbeil and Miss Hitchings. The members of the arts and crafts circle have met twice during the past month at the home of Mrs. Nasmith for the purpose of making bandages, and as the supply of material has not been exhausted it is proposed to hold a further meeting in the near future. The monthly meeting of the circle took i lace at the home of the convener, Mrs. Marsh. An interesting demonstration on poker work by Mrs. O'Connell was followed with the closest attention. It was decided to raise funds for the purchase of a poker machine.
