TRUCK DRIVER’S FATE
CRUSHED BY TRACTOR (Per Press Association.’/ AUCKLAND, this day. The driver of a motor truck at Dairy Flat, on the northern side of the harbour, was killed instantly last night when he was crushed by a 10-ton tractor which was being carried on the back of the truck. The victim was: Mr. Ronald Frederick Grinwald Baskett, aged 30, St. Hellers, man-aging-director of Dominion Road'? makers, Limited. Mr. Baskett was driving a 4-ton truck, which sank into the soft surface on the edge of the main road. It slowed down suddenly, causing the heavy tractor to run forward into the cab of the truck, crushing the driver. The truck then left the road arid ran into a ditch. A passing motorist shortly afterwards found Mr. Baskett dead. .
An inquest was orieried before the city coroner, Mr. P.-K. Bunt, S.M., and was adjourhed. 1 ■ .
