INQUIRY FROM U.S. MISSING N.2.M.R. MAN An innovation at the meetings ol Ihc; South African War Veterans’ Association, made on Saturday at the instance or the chairman, ' Mr. I. Lindon, is .the institution of silent Prayer for the troops fighting overseas. The chairman recommended that this practice be followed for the duration of the war, in tribute to the men who were fighting for the liberty Of all. An inquiry was received from the United States as to the whereabouts of No. 808 Trpty J. Gordon, 3rd N.Z.M.R., formerly a member of the Gisborne branch. The Auckland branch forwarded an invitation to its annual reunion, to be held on June 7. Sick members were reported to be progressing favourably. It was noted that in the recent casualty lists of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force there appeared the names of two former members of the association, Lieutenant J. Ileasley and Signaller A. Willis, the latter being an ex-employee of the Gisborne Borough Council. Sympathy was extended to both families. The chairman reminded members of flic annual church, parade to be held next Sunday in Holy Trinity. He added that the Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles Band and the TerriI torial units had been invited to take part in the parade.
