THREE BOMBERS DOWN
RAIDERS OVER BRITAIN SCATTERED ATTACKS (British Official Wireless.) j Reed. 11.30 a.m.. RUGBY, June 1. An official communique issued by the Air Ministry states: —“During Friday night there was enemy activity over the western half of England, but nowhere was it on a heavy scale. At a few points in western England and in South Wales some houses were wrecked and others damaged. Some casualties are reported, including a number of persons killed. “Bombs were dropped at a numbei of other scattered points. On Merseyside slight damage was done, but the number of casualties was small. Three enemy aircraft were destroyed last night. “On Saturday night there was some enemy activity ovc-r Britain, but it was not heavy. Bombs were dropped in Merseyside and at points in North Wales, the south of England, and the west of England. Some damage was done and a number of casualties are reported, including some killed in Merseyside. There was little damage elsewhere. Three enemy planes were destroyed before daybreak. London was raid-free last night, completing three bombless weeks.
