Dr. Gordon Cook, formerly of the Auckland Hospital staff, has been appointed to the Royal Army Medical Corps as a specialist in pathology, with the rank ot' major. Before joining the army, Major Cook was lecturer in pathology at the University of Liverpool. He is the elder son of Mrs. and the late LieutenantColonel P. R. Cook, V.D., C.8.E., of Mastcrton.
Flight-Lieutenant Watson Collingwood Turner lias been promoted to squadron leader and will be transferred lo South Africa, according to a cable message received by his father, Sub-Inspcctcr E. T. C. 'Turner, Christchurch. He was educated at the Waimate High School ar.d after working in New Plymouth for some years he worked his passage to England to see the Coronation. Seeing the Royal Air Force display there, he cided to learn to fly. privately. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1938 and was subsequently transferred to the Fleet Air Arm.
