COMPETITION STARTS The first round of’the Poverty Bay Foot'.iull Association’s competition for .schoolboys started on Saturday and Intermediate Old Roys and Central scored wins ovei -vfanprapapa and Kaiti. The superior teamwork of Intermediate Old Boys earned them a well-merited win jver Mantfapapa by two goals to nil. Old Joy.* kept play confined to Mangapapa’s hall lH much as possible with McKay and Watt leading the attacks to secure a goal each, rfanLey and Scott were others to shine, and Lawn saved his side much worry in goal. Walker, whose speed and footwork were ;een to advantage, did not receive sufficient support from Mangapapn.
Phere was too much handling of the bal tit the Kaiti-Central match, and Central ha. ittle difficulty in defeating their opponents by two goals to nil. The first goal wa■.cored by Shields oir a penalty kick and tin second by 1,. Taylor after a neat display oi footwork by Jury and Masin.
