Foresters won by ao goals to one, against a team which on orm should have accounted for them fairly •asily. The scores were, ns under: — Men’s Section.—Foresters 2. Caledonian 1 ; Ugh School A 7, Wesley 1 ; Y.M.C.A. 2, Vnituhi 1. Women’s Section.—lvia Toa G, Awapuni 0; Vnituhi 1, Y.M.P. 0. Girls' Section.—Kin Toe Red 0, Kia Toa ■Vhite 9. In the first game of the season Wesley beat Foresters two—nil; in the second round, .aledonian defeated Wesley 14—one. Hence t was expected that Foresters would prove .'airly easy victims to the fast and wellirganiscd Caledonians on Saturday. The ■ resell ce of Tt. Watchman, ex-All Black ilayer, in the Foresters' side made all the inference, offsetting the Caledonians' possesion oT another ex-Alt Black in T. Turbitt. ■Vntehman and Turbitt both scored goals, ind it was a ricochet off the goal-post bite n the game that decided the issue, G. iraham scoring the decider with a fast shot nit of a scramble in the Caledonians’ goal iren.
High School A accounted for Wesley by even goals to one, but the match was not is one-sided as the score would indicate. .Vesley played a sound game, and Stokes, in oal. and Poole, full-back, were solid till brough, up against an attack which excelled n stick-work and positional play. Murray vas the School menace, and had a day out, scoring six goals. He was particularly leadly in the circle. Ota scored the other mill for School, and Parkin netted one for Wesley. Y.M.C.A. Extended To Win
Y.M.C.A. scored two goals to Waituni’s me, in a fast and exciting match. Tlie vinners had to go all out, arid with Waitulii playing their usual bustling game it was ouch and go repeatedly. B. Harrison tumid out for the first time this season for T.M.C.A., and scored the first goal of the natch with a hard shot from a corner. Swat, aided Y.M.C.A. s extra goal, amt T. Dalton, vho with Tupara was outstanding in the Wnituhi side, scored for ttie country team, iarrison, Nieol, and Lynsky were the best, if the winning side. In the women’s section of the competition, -vin Toti scored a six—nil win over Awapuni. Misses T. Whitehead (3), V. Le Bas (2), ml J. Saiigwcll* scored goals for the winning side.
Tlie Wnituhi ladies’ team did not display tie usual dugree of combination in their natch with Y.M.P., and until Miss J. Smilor cored in the late stages of the game it ookeil as though they would have to he sntatied with a draw.' Y.M.P. gave a good .isplay, tackling well and showing plenty of vigour. Playing improved hockey. Kin 'Ton Red leld Kia Toa White to a scoreless draw in lie girls' section. The White forwards, led ,y B. and N. Murray, worked hard to score, mt J. Jones and T. Smttle defended strongly. Both sides had a tendency to follow the ball, i. Hankey, C. MuCallum, N. Vincent and J. Aillivan all played well.
