“N.Z. DOING ITS JOB”
BRITISH EXPERT’S VISIT SATISFIED WITH WORK (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Not the least bit deterred by difficulties and not worried because it has never done such work before, New Zealand is doing its job,” said Sir Alexander Roger, leader ol' the British Ministry of Supply mission, who passed through Auckland in the Monterey, in commenting on Dominion war production. Sir Alexander discussed problems with the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. He lunched at Government House. The mission under his charge left England last August and has since visited South Africa and India, where the Empire economic conference at Delhi was attended, Burma, ITong Kong, and Australia. Six representatives visited New Zealand early this year. Most of the members of the mission recently arrived back in England, and Sir Alexander, after spending some months in Australia, is travelling home by way of the United States and Canada.
“The whole of the countries in The eastern supply group are full of activity and are producing munitions at an infinitely greater pace than was the case a year ago,” said Sir Alexander. “I am exceptionally pleased with Australia, which has rightly been called an ‘arsenal of the Empire.’ New Zealand is doing fine work, and I leave feeling very satisfied with my visit here.”
