MERCHANTMEN TAKEN
ARMY AUXILIARIES AMERICAN ORDERS (Reed. May 31, 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 30. The New York Times says that 13 passenger liners and cargo vessels, totalling 200,000 tons, were yesterday ordered to be withdrawn from merchant routes for employment as military auxiliaries. shipping circles have heard reports that many other vessels will shortly be commandeered for a huge fleet of transports.
