Completed in the remarkable time of just over five months, two months under the contract time, the construction of the new military hospital in the Domain will end when the Fletcher Construction Company, Limited, which began work on December 12 on a tender of £70,000, will hand over the building to the Public Works Department. Provision for 150 beds Is made in the two connected wings, one of one storey and the other of two. Already plans for extension are under consideration by the Health Department'. An extra 3000 sq. ft. of floor space in an addition to one of the present wings will; if plans are approved, make the hospital complete for extensive work in orthopaedic surgery.
