CALF PRICES ADVANCE SHEEP VALUES FIRM WESTFIELD AUCTION (Per Proas Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Beef values at. the Westfield stock market, yesterday rose Is per 1001 b. The demand for an average entry was very keen. Extra choice ox made 39s per 1001 b, choice and prime 35s to 38s. prime cow and heifer 29s to 335, boner and rough 21s to 255. Extra heavy prime steers made £ls to £ls 10s. heavy £l3 10s to £l4 10s. medium £l2 to £l3, light £lO 15s to £ll 10s, unfinished £6 10s to £9 15s; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £9 to £ll. heavy £7 10s to £8 10s. medium £0 10s to £7. others £5 to £O.
Calf values for a short yarding jumped sharply, runners selling from £4 to £9 12s 6d. Heavy vealers made £4 15s to £5 15s, medium £3 15s to £4 10s, light £2 10s to £3 10s, small 15s to £2 ss. bobby and rough 4s to £2.
Baconers sold more cheaply in an average yarding, porkers realising late rates. Choppers made £1 15s to £4 16s, heavy baconers £4 to £4 10s, medium £3 9s to £3 14s. light £2 17s to £3 ss; heavy porkers £2 11s to £2 16s, medium £2 2s to £2 7s, small and light £1 4s to £1 18s, stores 18s to £1 6s, slips 10s to 14s. weaners 6s to 10s.
A smaller sheep entry sold at very firm rates. Extra heavy prime wethers made 29s to 30s 3d, heavy 27s Gd to 28s 6d, medium 26s to 275, light 24s 6d to 25s fid. unfinished 17s to 235; extra heavy prime ewes 18s to 19s 3d, heavy 16s 6d to 17s 6d, medium 15s to 16s. others 2s to 13s 6d.
Lambs sold steadily to 30s Gd in an average entry.
