Storekeepers had to cope with a heavy demand. They also had inquiries for fuel burning lamps. Under the black-out regulations indoor lighting is permissible. The rule is that lights must not be visible from the sea or air. Windows affected by this rule must be adequately screened. This requirement is expected to create a hegvy demand for blind materials.
Home Guard Parade During the week arrangements were made tor B Company, Gisborne Borough Home Guard, to parade at Awapuni to-morrow morning for the purpose of carrying out work that could not be successfully accomplished on the restricted area of the Guilders Road Reserve. Judging by conditions, however, the prospects ior to-morrow’s parade were doubtful, and if the weather has not improved sufficiently by this evening, notification of the cancellation will be given over the local broadcasting stations this evening. The usual Sunday parade for N.C.O. training will not be held to-morrow.
