MEDICAL SERVICE
PROGRESS OF SCHEME OFFICIAL SILENCE (P«r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. There is complete official silence on the progress of the medical service under the Social Security Act. Instructions issued throughout New Zealand yesterday warned district officers of the Health Department not to give information about the scheme for publication, nor to reveal details of the applications made by doctors or potential beneficiaries. The reason for this blanket instruction is stated to be that statements made by district health officers were considered in official circles to be unsatisfactory from the departmental viewpoint and the department proposes to make a statement in the near future covering the position to date. This will be released early next week, coming either from the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, or the Director-General, Dr. M. W. Watt.
