SERUM BY PLANE

SUPPLIES FOR NOUMEA OUTBREAK OF BUBONIC DISPATCH FROM SYDNEY (Per Presß Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. In answer to an urgent radio appeal, quantities of vaccine and serum for combating the bubonic plague outbreak in New Caledonia arrived from Australia by the flving-boat Aotearoa to-day and will be taken to Noumea by the Honolulu Clipper tomorrow. The serum and vaccine are in packages weighing 131 b and lib respectively. The total consignment is valued at about £IOO.

An appeal for supplies was received by the Commonwealth Government on Thursday and was referred to the Commonwealth serum laboratories in Melbourne. Supplies were immediately packed and dispatched by air to connect with the Aotearoa which left Sydney yesterday morning. For the Tasman journey the serum and vaccine were kept in the flying-boat’s refrigerator. It will be transported in a similar manner on the passage north by the Clipper.
