MERGER ENDORSED
THE NATIONAL PARTY PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT SOLDIERS' ORGANISATION DOMINION COUNCIL VIEW (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. At a meeting in Wellington yesterday of the Dominion council of the National Party with representatives present from all parts of New Zealand the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, gave a comprehensive survey of the negotiations which re-* suited in the merger of the People’s Movement and the new Liberal Party, as well as those associated with the sponsors of the proposed Soldiers’ Party.
The council confirmed the arrangements made and Mr. Holland’s undertaking in respect of representation in the National Party and expressed appreciation of the efforts made by Mr. Holland to achieve complete unity. Later Mr. E. R. Toop and Mr. H. <T. Tubbs attended the meeting and were co-opted on to the Dominion Council of the National Party. They were welcomed by the president, Mr. A. Gordon, and members of the council. Mr. Gordon said the added strength they would bring to the party would be of much value in the efforts being made for good government of New Zealand.
