RAILWAY CAMP MEN

(Herald Correspondent.) On Wednesday night those members of the Muriwai Home Guard who are resident in the Bartletts, Waikoura and Tikiwhata railway camps attended their second night parade, which was held in the Y.M.C.A. hall at Bartletts. As the commanding officer, Captain C. H. Williams, Muriwai, was. absent from the district, Lieutenant G. W. King was in charge. A pleasing feature of the muster was the attendance of a number of non-members. An interesting and instructive lecture on first aid was delivered by Sergeant-Major C. J. Cox. Members were given the opportunity to practice the application of slings for broken limbs. This lecture was the first of a series of lectures which will be given on first aid. The next parade of the unit has been called for Sunday week at Muriwai. MURIWAI PARADE (Herald Correspondent.) At the Muriwai Hall last evening there was a splendid muster of members of the Muriwai unit of the Home Guard. Sergeant-Major C. J. Cox gave a lecture on first aid. Practical work by members followed. Mr. H. Le Bas, of the Internal Affairs Department, was present to instruct in physical exercises and games. Members were most enthusiastic and obviously appreciated the visit of the instructor.
