PROBATION EXTENDED
BREAKING AND ENTERING TIKITIKI EPISODE . Folio wing statements concerning the accused’s character, Mr. Justice, Johnston in the, Supreme Court to-day extended probation to a young - Maori, Thoriras Peachey, who appeared for sentence for breaking and entering and theft at Tikitiki. Mr. G. J. Jeune said that the accused had not been in trouble before, and in committing the crime apparently had acted as the tool for others. He was not; at all a bad boy, gnd if taken in hand now the lesson already learned would react to his benefit. He was in employment. His Honour said that the reports on the accused were favourable, and it was his first offence. He was admitted to probation for 12 months on the usual terms, including the payment of the cost of the prosecution, and making restitution of the stolen property.
