OCCUPIED TERRITORY GERMAN RESTRICTIONS WARNING IN HOLLAND DEATH FOR STRIKERS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Feb. 27, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 26. The Germans are tightening their control of the occupied territories from Norway to France.
Most stringent precautions have been taken in the west of Norway following the dropping by the Royal Air Force of thousands of leaflets in coastal towns and villages.
The Lyons radio says that all public telephoning in the coastal districts of occupied France is restricted to local calls.
The Amsterdam correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says that the German, General Christensen, after strikes and riots, issued the following proclamation: “I have taken over executive power in the north of Holland in view of the political situation.” Strikers are warned that failure to return to work will result in imprisonment and even death.
The German news agency reports that Germans raided a Brussels cafe and found a huge quantity of illegal food. An examination of the books revealed a country-wide illegal organisation.
