Unless some early effort is made to assist growth there is a likelihood that the life-span of the Norfolk Island pines on Marine parade, Napier, will be considerably shortened for various reasons. Officers of the Napier Borough Council have been perturbed for some time at the fact that the trees have shown signs of deterioration, and one possible reason advanced is that the road has been tar-sealed right up to the boles of the trees, thus preventing the air and the effects of sunshine from reaching the roots. ,
