SEIZURE OF OPIUM ARREST OF CHINESE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Hack-saws and other tools were used by detectives last night when they forced their way into 91 Grey’s avenue, city, and seized a quantity of opium found on the premises and arrested two Chinese. A crowd of people gathered to watch. Detective Sergeant Aplin was in charge of the raiding party. Two . detectives mounted a ladder placed against the verandah rail on the first floor and with hacksaws attacked heavy iron bars in front of a window. Meanwhile others made an assault upon a steel-lined door at the back. Within a few minutes the bar had been cut through at the window and a detective scrambled through the gap and let his fellow officers in through the back door. After a thorough search of the premises the police took the Chinese to the central police station.
