BALKANS WEEK FATAL FOR BULGARIA MARCH BY GERMANS SUDDEN CESSATION CROSSING OF DANUBE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assa.) (Reed. Feb. 24, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 23. All indications of the coming week are fatal for Bulgaria, says the Sofia correspondent of The Times. German troops began crossing the Danube at several places on Friday, but the movement was discontinued on Saturday, even the pontoon bridges being lifted. . No reliable explanation is advanced for the sudden postponement of the German action. Some diplomatic sources believe that the Germans are making another propaganda campaign, bringing pressure to bear on the Greeks before really marching into Bulgaria.
The Germans apparently plan a silent occupation without officially announcing the arrival of the troops. Orders have been given for large quantities of food to be held ready next week at several points in the south of Bulgaria, which means that the Germans expect to have crossed the Stara-Planina mountains by then.
