“GOLD RUSH MAISIE” AND “LITTLE ORVIE”

Three hours of joyous family entertainment is being presented to-day at the Majestic Theatre. Ann Sothern. who characterises the Stranded showgirl with a whiplash tongue and the heart of gold as no one else can returns to her familiar and popular role with more hilarious results than ever before in “Gold Rush Maisie," which heads the double bill. This time Maisie, who began her screen career in a ranch setting and then jumped to the African jungle in her second adventure, is adrift in the midst of the Arizona desert when her old jallopy breaks down while she is en route to a cafe-singing job. A cast of thorough troupers surrounds her, including Lee Bowman, Slim Summerville and Virginia Weidler. The associate comedy "Little Orvie,” is adapted from Booth Tarkington’s delightful comedy of youth and stars young John Sheffield, who will be remembered as the “Son of Tarzan.” He is supported by Ernest Truex and Ann Todd. The programme opens with the serial, “Wild Bill Hicock.”
