AUCKLAND BUILDING ' AWARDS ANNOUNCED (Reed. Feb. 11, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 10. The award of Sir G. G. Scott in the competition for the design of the cathedral at Auckland was announced to-day. The first premium of £IOOO was awarded to the Sydney architect, Mr. Charles Towle, the second of £4OO to the Aucklander, Mr. Amyas D. Connell, now resident in England, the third of £2OO to the Aucklanders, Messrs. Fergus and G. F. Sheppard, and the fourth of £IOO to the Aucklanders, Messrs. Donner and Bartlett. The designs are now on exhibition at the High Commissioner’s office in the Strand. Mr. Connell, who is a Rome scholarship winner, practises here with the Wellingtonian, Mr. Ward.
