FAREWELL PARTY AIR FORCE RECRUIT (Herald Correspondent.) The residence of- Mr. and Mrs. R Craill was the gathering point recently for relatives ancl friends to wish their eldest son, Mr. D, Craill, good luck in his training in the Royal. New Zealand Air Force. The entertainment took the form of a late afternoon tennis party. A delicious tea was served out of doors, after which the guests gathered around the piano and played games on the lawn.

t Later a delectable supper was served by Mrs. Craill and her many helpers, and then many of the guest? adjourned to the woolshed, which haa been decorated with hydrangeas ancL greenery, for dancing. The music was supplied by Mrs. B. Lincoln and Mr. T. Lockwood, extras being played by Mrs. Ellis (Gisborne). Mr. J. Robison, sen., and Mr. E. Craill (Patutahi). Songs were sung by Miss V. Crail! (Gisborne) and Mr. B. Bradley. Much amusement was caused when Mr. Ivan Craill gave a ventriloquial item. ; Mr. N. B. Smith, on behalf of the ■guest of honour’s parents, presented .'him with a silver tiki. Mr. P. Craill, on behalf of Mr. Craill’s relatives and well-wishers from Gisborne, presented him with a money belt. Mr. Craill suitably thanked everyone for their ;good wishes.

Mac Nab, and R. ;F. Jackspn (M,ofu). ' Presbyterian Church Garden, Party The home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Reeves was the scene of a most profit,able garden party held by the church members. The stalls, games and competitions were conducted on the lawn in brilliant sunshine. A delicious afternoon :ea was served. Mrs. J. L. Reeves, in the absence of the Rev. Mr. Fotheringham, thanked 'all for making the afternoon a success. Mr. G. McCullough thanked ; Mrs. Reeves for the use of her beautiful gardens. The produce stall was in the hands of Mesdames A. J. Reid and B. Bradel’y, while the cake stall was conducted by Mesdames D. G. S. MacDonald and C. Mclnto.sh. The Takapau Football Club recently held, in conjunction with the •Young Farmers’ Club, a farewell party for Mr. T. Craill, who leaves shortly for the Royal New Zealand Air Force training school at Levin. Mr. P - . Sayers, selector of the team, said that a number of the team were already overseas, and he also thanked Mr. Craill for his ready support and his interest in the welfare, of the club. Mr. R. McNeil wished Mr. Craill success. Mr. Craill suitably replied.

Overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Craill for their farewell party to their son, Mr. D. Craill, were: Mr. and Mrs. E. Craill and Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. R. Bull, Mr. and Mrs. H. Duckworth, Mrs. A. Craill, Mr. and Mrs. W. Purcell. Miss E. Lougher, Mr. D. P. Munro, Mr. R. J. Jackson.

Mrs. G. Tucker, who has been staying with hep parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Craill, has returned to Foxtori. — Master George Nursehausen, Huanui station, Tolag’a Bay, is an inmate of the Cook Hospital, Gisborne, —Miss P. Cranswick has been spending some of her school vacation with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Bartram, Gisborne.
