MAJESTIC THEATRE
GEORGE FORMBY IN “IT’S IN THE AIR” AND “MICKEY THE KID”
George Formby joins the R.A.F. and happiness is here again in “It's in the Air,” which is convulsing audiences ai the Majestic Theatre. Typically topical, the latest Formby film has as its background the air force, where George finds himself “accidentally" in uniform. subjected to a bewildering discipline, and, as usual, making a hopeless mess of everything. George dons sky blue with the mistaken idea of saving his sister’s airman sweetheart from exposure and also succeed:: in wrecking the camp with his sublime clumsy ignorance, nearly giving the sergeant-major apoplexy and becoming the butt Rf every practical joker, in the service. One wildly funny scene sees him quartered in the sergeantmajor’s own rooms, thinking they art part of the visitors’ quarters, and there are many other things in like vein. The fun reaches extravagant heights when Formby does duty as a dispatch rider, careering madly ov n ' the countryside on a motor-cycle w:T the local O.C. as his terrified passenger. There is riotous fun, too. when Formbv takes to the air. He firrk himself alone in the heavens aboard an aeroplane about which he knownothing, performing weird figures ! n the sky. looping the loon, loosing live bombs and a hail of machine-gun bullets —in short doing everything, except break his neck. In fact, it is all exhilarating fun. with Formby rieV at the top of his form. “Mickey the Kid” is the slorv of a gangster’s boy who has to decide between his parent and his grandmother—between lawlessness and decency—when he discovers that his father : s a murderer. Bruce Cabot. Zasu Pitts and Tommy Ryan have the leading roles.
