OVERTIME EARNINGS
TAX EXEMPTION CLAIM DECISION OF WORKERS CHALLENGE TO STATE (Reed. Jan. i 3, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 12. At a mass stop-work meeting on Saturday of 2000 iron workers and boilermakers, it was decided not to work any further overtime unless such overtime earnings are exempted from the Federal income tax and State wages tax. The ban operates from Monday. The chairman of the meeting said the claims could not be granted by any Arbitration Court or by employers of labour. It was a challenge to the Government of the country.
