Reed. 2.10 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 24 Seven Italian and four German planes were destroyed yesterday without loss to the Royal Air Force, It is reported that one of thrqe enemy, planes destroyed over Britain to-day was a Dornier 215, which was shot down after machine-gunning a west of England aerodrome. Two Spitfires, intercepted the enemy raider at betvyeen 1000 ft. and 2000 ft. and a squadron leader and pilot officer attacked it alternately until the bomber crashed into the sea three miles from the coast. j A communique issued by the Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security states: “Enemy activity over this country to-day has been slight. Several" formations of fighters and fighter-bombers crossed the south-east coast, flying in the direction of London. They were promptly met and dispersed by our fighters. “Reports so far received show that a few bombs were dropped at several points in Kent. There was little damage and very few casualties.” The Air Ministry says that though bombs were dropped during part of the night on. widely-separated places ir. many parts of the country the enemy’s attack was mainly concentrated on a town in southern England. Houses, public and commercial buildings were damaged by explosives and fire. A German communique refers to a further attack on Birmingham and says that about 300 tons of bombs were dropped. The communique cla.ims that numerous factories were destroyed.
