BARTLETTS NEWS

(Herald Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Bartletts Social Club Mrs. R. Francis tendered her resignation as secretary as she was leaving the district. Mrs. E. A. Smith was apopinted to fill the position and resigned the post of president, Mr. F. Mulligan being elected in her place. At a recent meeting of the Bartletts Christmas Tree Committee, the Bartletts School Committee was invited to be present and these two committees combined are at present organising a function for the close of the school year. This will take the form of a Christmas tree and fancy dress ball with concert items and will be held on December 13. Mr. T. Walters was elected chairman, and sub-committees were set up. All surplus funds are to be set aside for the children evacuated from London. Miss Edna French was a visitor to Bartletts last week-end. —Mrs. Smith returned home on Saturday after spending a few days in Gisborne.— Ptcs. R. Fcascy and T. O’Donnell, who have been visiting their parents at Bartletts, returned to camp yesterday. —Sapper A. E. J. Breingan, of Papakura military camp, spent his leave in Gisborne and visited his sister,' Mrs. R. Carswell, and his brother, Mr. M. Breingan, Bartletts, at the week-end.
