WITHDRAWAL OF MEN
NO. 13 SCHEME WORKERS In a report placed before the Gisborne Borough Council last night, the borough engineer, Mr. E. It. Thomas, stated that the Social Security Department had notified that 25 men were to be withdrawn from No. 13 scheme works under the council’s control from October 18 for employment on the improvement of school grounds. "This means that footpath formation in Mary street, cleaning up of the railway reserve and levelling at section 103, Awapuni road, will have to be suspended until more men are available,” the report added.
