Healthy County Finances
“Despite all the difficulties, the council’s finances are in a very healthy state,” reported the county clerk, Mr. F. T. Robinson, at to-day’s meeting of the Cook County Council. “The credit balance, after providing for this month’s payments, is £5954, owing to the fact that 61 per cent of the current rates were paid before the last rebate date. Several long outstanding native rate accounts have been cleared up under the council’s agreement to accent the current year’s rates in full with half the arrears, plus costs, for other years, and further settlements are, expected.”
