Jones, announced last night that the Government had found it increasingly necessary to call the Chief of the Naval Staff, Commodore W. E. Achilles and the New Zealand squadron. “Commodore Parry has therefore re linquished, command of H.M.S. Achilles on relief by Captain H. M. Barnes, A.D.C., R.N., formerly in command of H.M.S. Philomel, and will henceforth devote his whole time to duties of Chief of the Naval Staff and first naval member of the Naval Board.
