Car Badly Damaged
Mr. Leslie Hughes, a Hicks Bay farmer, had a lucky escape on Sunday When his car swerved on the access road to his property, above the Hicks Bay wharf, and plunged some distance down an almost sheer cliff to the highway. Mr. Hughes was able to halt the car momentarily as it balanced on the edge of the cliff, but before assistance could be obtained the machine overbalanced. The dive completely wrecked the body of the car, and almost certainly would have killed any occupant.
