TREND TOWARDS WAR (Reed. June 17, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 15. A report from Topeka states that surprisingly in view of the previous public accord with the idea of _ the administration aiding the Allies short of war, the Republican leader, Mr. Alfred M. Landon, has issued a statement in which he condemned President Roosevelt’s speech at Charlottesville promising aid in materials of war for flic Allies as a . course taken on his own responsibility that is in the direction of war for which the nation is utterly unprepared and to which the vast majority of the people are opposed.”
