’QUAKE IN PERU
100 DEAD, 1000 INJURED MANY HOUSES DESTROYED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. May 25, 2.30 p.m.) LIMA, May 24. Over 100 persons are dead as a result of an earthquake. It is estimated that 1000 persons were injured. The epicentre of the ’quake apparently was Callao, where 58 were killed. Thirty-two are dead in Lima, 11 in Bellavista, and two in San Miguel. Over 1000 homes were destroyed in various cities.
