ANGLO-SOVIET TRADE
BRITISH TERMS REJECTED RUSSIA’S INTENTIONS (Reed. May 23, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 22. The Moscow radio announcer said that the Soviet Prime Minister, M. i Molotov, replying to the British memorandum asking for further information so as to judge whether the obligations undertaken by the Soviet would render it possible for that Government at present to conclude a trade agreement with the United Kingdom on the lines which the British Government had in mind, rejects the British viewpoint. The announcer declared that the memorandum shows that the British have no desire to open trade negotiations, and expressed the intention . of the Soviet to trade with belligerents and neutrals in principle of equality. The British Government has not yet received any reply from the Soviet with respect to the last inquiries made regarding the contemplated resumption of,'trade talks between the two Governments.
