TRENTHAM DRAFT

THIRD ECHELON MEN GISBORNE-EAST COAST DEPARTURE TO-MORROW NEARLY 200 RECRUITS Recruits selected for service with the Fifth and Sixth Infantry AntiTank Companies, the Divisional Engineers, the Eighth Field Company, New Zealand Engineers, the Machine Gun Company, Rifle Battalion, the Second New Zealand General Hospital, the 19th and 22nd Welling ion Rifles, the 25th Rifle Battalion, the Sixth Field Infantry Brigade, together with replacement units for the Rifle Battalion, will comprise a draft leaving Gisborne to-morrow for Trentham. The draff will comprise 190 men from Gisborne, the Coast, and Wairoa, and will travel from Wairoa by special train. The departure of Gisborne anci Coast recruits for these units is fixed for 8.30 a.m. to-morrow, and the draft will muster at 7.30 a.m. for checking and for the allocation of seats in the service cars in'which they will proceed as far as Wairoa. After reporting, the men will be given hulf-an-hour to make their farewells in the neighbourhood of the Abcreorn Hall, and at 8 o'clock a roll-call will be held, and final instructions given as to the conduct of the draft on the southward journey. A prompt departure is necessary, as the troop-movement schedule has been drawn up with a view to delivering the recruits to Trentham camp early in the evening. The public, therefore, is requested to co-operate with the Army Department in avoiding delays at the point of departure from Gisborne The roll of recruits for units training at Trentham has been revised during the past two days, and there have been minor alterations necessitated by accidents and other causes. One or two of the men originallyincluded in the Trentham draft have been transferred to units training at other centres, and already have proceeded to their respective carnps; while others not previously named have been included in the roll of the draft, which now stands as under: — Fifth Infantry Anti-Tank Company, Trentham Cliff, Cecil Victor, Tokomaru Bay.
