BIG BERLIN BLAZE
MUNITIONS FACTORY OFFICIAL RETICENCE “WOOD SET ON FIRE" (Reed. March 29, 9 a.m.) LONDON, March 27. The Berlin correspondent of the Eritish United Press says that a fire occurred at 10 p.m. in a munitions factory in northern Berlin. It was still burning at midnight. The flames lit up the northern part of the city for several hours. The factory involved is believed to be that of Gergmann Electrical Products Limited, now producing rifles, machine-guns and other small-calibre munitions. Frequent explosions were heard. The fire brigades succeeded in confining the blaze to one section of the factory. The Gestapo in addition to ordinary police cordoned the area for miles round the factory. The authorities refused information except to state that a “considerable quantity of wood had been set on fire owing to an unexplained cause.”
