Burnham Men Leave Gisborne
There was a gathering of over 100 people in Lowe street at 2 a.m. to-day to see the departure of the 15 Gisborne men returning to Burnham camp, Christchurch. The service car left the depot on schedule, and the men were entrained early this morning at Wairoa. The function was of an informal nature, being similar to, but smaller, than that yesterday morning when the troops returned to Trentham.
Loss on Rugby in Wairoa It was shown in the balance sheet of the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union which was presented at the annual meeting on Wednesday evening that the actual loss on last season’s activities was £6 14s 7d. The balance sheet showed a deficit of £sl 4s lOd, but it was explained by the treasurer that £44 10s 3d had been owing from the previous season. The expenditure amounted to £445 2s Gd and the gate takings totalled £374 6s 9d.—Special.
