Miss I. MacDonald, Tolaga Bay, is staying in Waipawa.

Dr. Campbell D’Arey, Hamilton, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. Blackburn, Domett street. Mr. H. Crichton, Wairoa manager of Swift, New Zealand, Limited, is visiting Auckland. —Special Mr. C. M. Pilkington, Transport Departm;nt inspector in Wairoa, who has been, appointed schools instructor for the department in the Auckland district, will leave Wairoa on Sunday and will take up his new duties early in February. His successor in Wairoa has not yet been named.—Special. Mr. G. H. Murray, assistant public works road engineer in Hawke’s Bay, is to retire this month after. 39 years’ service with the department. His position will be filled by Mr. J. Andrew, a son of the late Mr. JJB. Andrew, a former Mayor of Napier. Mr. Andrew’s position will be occupied by Mr. F. D. Gemmell, Wairoa. Major 11. J. Parkinson and Mrs. Parkinson, of the Salvation Army, Invercargill, have received advice of their transfer to the Christchurch City Corps, and will leave Invercargill on January 16. Major Parkinson has been in charge of the Salvation Army work in Invercargill fpr the last two and a half years. He has served on committees for the control of patriotic funds and has assisted in the work of social welfare. Mrs. Farkinson. has acted as the women's probation, officer for the district.
