Clnb’s Centenary Cup, a race for stayers—will be introduced at the autumn meeting. The secretary of the Victoria Racing Club, Mr. A. V. Kewney, has stated on behalf of the racing clubs that it is their intention to endeavour to maintain racing at its pre-war high standard. Pacer a Bargain The Australian pacer Logan Derby, who has shown his worth on New Zealand courses, is estimated to have travelled 31,000 miles in quest of the £7600 that he has won in stakes. He has won 37 races besides running a dead-heat in a race. This list does not include a number of wins at different shows which would bring his total up to 51. Logan Derby was bred in Tasmania by Mr. E. Tatlow, was sold to Mr. V/. Balloch, and was later transferred to his present owner, Mr. H. Barnes, for 60 guineas. Unlucky Horseman W. Briscoe, Brisbane’s leading jockey, who resumed riding on December 13 after an enforced spell because ol' tm accident, was seriously injured in a fall at Albion Park in the following week. Nine horses galloped over Briscoe while he was on the ground, and one ol them struck him on tire head. He was unconscious when picked up. He is suffering from head injuries, a fracture of the pelvis, and severe bruises about the body. Briscoe rode Viewing, favourite for the Seventh Division Handicap, and was in a winning position when his mount got on the heels oi Fitzroy at the top of the straight and fell, the rest of the field galloping over him.
