The League of Nations

Sir,—The League of Nations having disappointed its supporters, many people want to adapt a wait-and-see policy till after Hie war. On the oilier hand manv of the British bull-dog type do not want to wait and sec but to create a strong public opinion to strengthen the hands of the Home Government and of those of other peaceloving nations. In 1936', Mr. Duncan Hall, a member of the League of Nations Geneva stall, suit in many months of his hard-earned furlough touring the British Dominions and Colonies to urge us ail to lei the European nations know that in the event of Britain having again to take up arms against aggressors we would.

as in 1914, rally to her support. The result has been that in every part of the Empire men and money are forthcoming to her support now. Gisborne and Poverty Bay boys have rallied to the colours well; therefore men and women of Gisborne should strengthen the Gisborne branch ol' the League of Nations Union and so enable us to become a really active body and help to crea*e a public opinion which is so essential to prevent the mistakes of the past being re-enactecl, when the time comes to settle the affairs of Europe and the British Empire after the war. A meeting of our local branch is to be held to-night, so I appeal to patriotic men and women to come along and increase our membership and help to form a really active body. C. TILLEARD NATUSCH.
