TENNIS PLAYER RETURNS
Valuable playing experience was gained by J. W. Gunn, the prominent Auckland tennis player, who has returned from a lengthy visit to England. As well as taking part in the Wimbledon events, he was a competitor in a number of county tournaments, in which he met with a failmeasure of success. Associated with another Aucklander, A. D. Browne, he had several doubles victories. Gunn crossed the Atlantic on the Duchess of York and subsequently fell a victim of appendicitis. He spent two months in America recovering from the operation. As soon as he is perfectly lit he intends enlisting for military service.
