THE WEATHER
Last Night’s Forecast General situation: A weak disturbance lies across the centre of the Dominion, but pressure is relatively high over the whole area. Forecast: Winds, light to fresh southerlies about and south of Cook Strait; elsewhere light to moderate and variable. Seas: New Zealand waters, slight or moderate: eastern Tasman Sea, light to moderate and variable winds and slight seas. Weather, cloudy and unsettled' over most of the country, with mist or fog' in many places and a scattered drizzle, especially in the morning. Temperatures, moderate in the south, mild to warm in the north. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions were fairly general over the North Island this morning, when variable breezes, light to gentle, were reported. The barometer was steady. Temperatures at 9 a.m. wore:—Auckland, 05 degrees; Tauranga, 75; Opotiki, 70; East Cape, 63; Gisborne, 65; Napier, 06; Wellington, 59. Seas were smooth to slight. Midday Forecast General Situation:—Pressure is still relatively high and uniform over the New Zealand area. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather dull and in places misty, with scattered drizzle. Mild temperatures. Slight seas.
