FLIGHT TO ROTORUA
FIVE NAVAL OFFICERS ROUND OF SIGHTSEEING ENJOYABLE TIME SPENT After making a fast trip from Wellington to Rotorua in an Avro Avian eight-passenger machine piloted by Flight-Lieutenant White, Captain M. Price, Commander C. L. Durda and three other officers from the battleship Ramillies spent several hours sightseeing in and around Rotorua, accompanied by Mr. A. Kean, representing the Internal Affairs Department. ( On the outward journey from Wellington the. aeroplane flew over Palmerston North and to Taupo and Waiotapu, where the passengers inspected the thermal reserve from the air. Arriving in Rotorua, the party was met by Mr. Kean, and during the day visited Whakarewarewa, Ohinemutu and the State game farm at Ngongotaha. They were entertained at luncheon. They were met by the Mayor ol’ Rotorua, Mr. T. Jackson, and Mr. A. F. Moncur, M.P.
Thoroughly pleased with their visit, the party returned to Wellington early in the afternoon, the aeroplane first circling over the various lakes before heading toward Napier.
