ROYAL SHOW OPENS
SPLENDID ENTRIES
STOCK JUDGING BEGINS
(Tor Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day.
[Brilliant weather and ideal conditions .prevailed .for the opening o’f the Centennial Royal .Show to-day. There is a large assemblage of visitors from all .parts cf the Dominion and entries in the various classes, representative of the leading breeders, are good, while the grand total of entries is slightly below the figure in 1934 when the last Royal Show was held here. .'Competent judges are of the opinion that the quality of the stock is better. An indication of the support given to the fixture by northern .breeders is shown (by the .fact that 689 animals have 'been entered and a large proportion was safely transported on the railway.
To-day, the judging of sheep, cattle and ,pig exhibits is proceeding, and will occupy the greater part cf the day. Horses will appear to-morrew. The question whether the showmen will -boycott the fixture is still under negotiation.
