OBITUARY
MRS. L. M. GOOCH The death occurred in the Cook Hospital yesterday of Mrs. Louisa Mary Gooch, aged 81, widow of the late Mr. Joseph Gooch. The deceased was born in Melbourne and was married to her first husband, the late Mr.'Charles Edward Davis, in Bendigo, Victoria. Following her husband's death in Bendigo 28 years ago she came to New Zealand with her family of seven children and settled in Lyttelton, where she was married to Mr. Gooch. Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. Gooch moved to Dannevirke. They came to Gisborne 25 years ago, and Mr. Gooch took up farming here. Of a kind and generous nature Mrs. Gooch on many occasions gave -assistance to neighbours in time of sickness. She was a capable nurse and through her kindly actions she earned the esteem of those who knew her. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Mrs. M. Gooch, Cameron road, Gisborne, Mrs. N. Hughes, Palmerston North, Mr. 11. E. Davis, Ohakunc, Mr. E. W. Davis, Lytton road, Gisborne, Mr. H. S. Davis, Cameron road, Gisborne, and Mr. F. N. Davis, Palmerston North. The funeral will leave St. Mary’s Church, Lowe street, at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the Taruhcru cemetery. MRS. B. B. REED The death occurred in Hastings last week-end of Mrs. Brenda Beatrice Reed, wife of Dr. James Lewis Reed, of Hastings, and formerly of Waipukurau. For 20 years, Dr. Reed was medical superintendent of the Waipukurau Hospital, residing there from July, 1914. Mrs. Reed, who was born in Napier, had been in ill-health for almost two years, but her passing came as a shock to her relatives. Lci't to mourn their loss are a brother, Dr. 11. M. Wilson, Hastings, and three sisters, Mrs. J. Faulkner. Hastings, Mrs. G. Kemp, Gisborne, and another in Tasmania. There are two daughters, Mrs. Hine, Gisborne, and Miss Barbara Reed, Hastings, and one son, Mr. Ronald Reed, Crownthorpe.
