Blue skies were reported at Auckland, Tauranga, Opotilci and Gisborne, but south of Poverty Boy conditions were overcast. Heavy rain had been experienced in Hawke’s Bay. Rough seas were reported between Cape Campbell and Castlepoint. but elsewhere smooth to moderate conditions existed. The temperatures were: Cape Maria Van Diemen, 59 degrees; Tauranga, 58; Auckland, 54; Opotiki, 53; Napier, 51; and Wellington, 47.
