NO LONDON AWARDS
EXPORT MEAT CLASSES GISBORNE A. & P. SHOW LOCAL JUDGINGS ONLY No London judging of the usual lamb, sheep and pig export classes for the Gisborne Show will be held this year in view of the war conditions, but the usual local judgings in those classes will take place. These decisions were reached at a meeting of the general committee ol the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association yesterday, when advice was read from' the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board that the board had been obliged reluctantly to cancel tbe district lamb competition this year, but following a request sent by secretary of the association, Mr. W. E. Chamberlain, the board had agreed to continue the competition in sc far as the local judgings were concerned under the usual conditions, except that the North Island and South Island shields would not be awarded. Weights of lambs should not exceed 361 b. on the hooks. The disposal oi the lambs would be left to the A. and P. Association. The association unanimously agreed .to carry out the competition with local judging this year, together with the association’s own lamb, sheep and pi'g export classes wiith local judging. In addition, there would be a class for judging lambs under the blocktest system. A motion was put before the meeting that the entry fee for the block-test class should be 2s Gd., but this was defeated, and the fee remained at 55., as already fixed.
