BRITAIN AND JAPAN SIR S. CRIPPS’ WARNING (Reed. Oct. 11, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 10. Sir Stafford Cripps in a speech at a luncheon on China Independence Day said there was a real and practical danger that Britain may turn to an alliance with Japan. Many people in Britain were now thinking of the advisability of an Anglo-Japanese alliance in order to offset the Russian-German pact. It was necessary to be on guard to see that public opinion was made conscious of the need for supporting the struggling Chinese.
