DOMINIONS AGREE PONSONBY’S OPINIONS FREE CHURCH COUNCIL CONDITIONS OF PEACE

Mr. Neville Chamberlain, has the approval of France of the Dominions to his reply to be made to-morrow to the speech given in Ihe Reichstag last Friday by Herr Hitler, who proposed a general laying down of arms and a European conference to settle all problems separating the European nations.
The Free Church Council to-day adopted a resolution welcoming the Government's assurances that the German proposals would receive detailed consideration and urging a reply which would deline conditions of peace as clearly as possible. It was urged that the conditions should include redress for the wrongs ol Czechoslovakia and Poland and also the German grievances. Lord Ponsonby, speaking in East Stirling, said that however difficult might be the negotiations with HenHitler, the only alternative was massacre and ruin, which would not solve a single problem. He claimed that there was a growing body of truly patriotic opinion behind him.
